A Smorgasbord of Seafood for the Weekend …

A veritable smorgasbord of seafood this week as we cling on to our summer menu as long as we can!

To start, we are delighted to have “Disco” Scallops on the menu.  A rare success story in the world of fisheries, these scallops willingly come to pots fitted with bright LED lights.  There’s a link here to a story on the BBC where you can see this process in action. No one quite knows why the scallops prefer to bathe in artificial light, but this accidental 2022 discovery (the researchers were exploring whether lights in the pots would attract more crabs and lobsters) has lead to what is hoped will be a sustainable Scallop fishery without causing any disturbance to the seabed.  We will be serving the Scallops with our Confit Elephant garlic.

Also on the menu are Cockles with Linguine, Goan Monkfish Curry, Cock Crabs served with Sorrel Mayonnaise, Green Salad and Borodinsky Toasts  and plump Cornish Plaice.

Further ahead, we are looking forward to the return of our Supper Clubs to brighten the gloom of the Autumn evenings.  Our first diary date is for our Michaelmas Goose Supper Club which, this year, will be held on Friday 26th Septemberer.  Tickets available by clicking the link below.  A list of all this Autumn’s Events can be found here
