So lots of changes for the next few weeks as I have been back under the knife in Headington and will be largely out of action till mid June.
In the interim we have Made and my daughter Bea stepping forward to do the day time cooking so the menu will carry on as normal with a focus on some of your regular Spring favourites before we switch to a full summer menu at the end of June.
Front of House will be lead by the inestimable or should that be intimidating (!) Holly. For the next couple of weeks we will be slightly reducing covers to ensure that the new team can cope so I would beg your indulgence – if you are planning to join us, please book ahead either on the website or through email/phone. We will, as always, try to accommodate walk-in customers but may need to restrict numbers more than usual.
On the bakery side, we are delighted to announce a hook-up with The Missing Bean Bakery in East Oxford. From Friday to Sunday each week we will be getting daily deliveries of their signature sourdough loaves and buttery, flakey croissants – quite different in style from my loaves and croissants but equally as delicious. Cakes will be baked by our old, much missed colleague Jimmy Rossiter – again they will be delicious tarts and cakes though with a slightly smaller range than normal.
For evenings, we are building on the idea of Supper Clubs and are very excited to announce several pop-ups over the next few weeks. First up on Fridays 17th and 24th May, we have Bangarang: Fire, Food and Wine. Danny and his team will be cooking up a storm on the new Barbecue pit with a really interesting menu of fire cookery before he takes up a summer residency at Soho Farmhouse. Tickets for these evenings are available by clicking here.
On Saturday 1st June we are welcoming what we hope will be the beginning of summer when Chef Roshni of Tikka and Tadka will be hosting ‘Grisher Bhuribhoj’ a Bengali Feast to Welcome Summer. The mouth-watering menu and tickets are available here
Several other special evenings to be announced over the coming weeks and on the alternate days each weekend, we will be serving drinks, cocktails and our normal menu from 6-8pm so that you can enjoy what we hope will be balmy, early summer evenings in the garden.
A huge thank you to those of you who have already voted in the Good Food Guide awards – we really appreciate your votes and hope that many more of you will be able to vote over the coming weeks!
