It’s the middle of March already – time to celebrate St Patrick’s Day! What better choice than a smorgasbord of Seafood up from Cornwall?
So, from tomorrow and for as long as supplies last we have a fantastic range of fresh Seafood. From Cornwall for the most part – not Ireland itself – but freshly delivered tomorrow morning and for sale in the shop and in the restaurant.
First up, there’s a choice of Cockles and Mussels which will definitely be “Alive, Alive, oh!” when they arrive: Rope-grown Mussels from St Austell – plump and sweet – served as Moules Marinieres to preserve their distinctive flavour; Cockles served instead of Vongole with our Linguine – again, simple yet delicious.
Another first for this year is that we will be taking delivery of a box of Malden Rock Oysters – some will be for sale in the shop but most will be shucked and sold on the half shell in the restaurant. These sold out really quickly when we had them on the menu in the Autumn so do book early if you want to taste them this weekend. Perfect as they come, they are even better with a glass of chilled Picpoul or, perhaps, an indulgent glass of something sparkling!
Finally, for those who missed out last weekend, we have a return of Oven Roast Lemon Sole and Cornish Cock Crabs.
Lots of new events to be announced over the next week or two – do look out for the emails. For now, I just wanted to mention that booking is open for the long Easter weekend – do come and join us for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner as we re-open Friday and Saturday evenings from Good Friday. We will also be holding Easter Egg Hunts for younger visitors on Good Friday morning and our first Concert of the year when the Oxley-Meier Guitar Project play their now traditional Easter Saturday slot – full details on these events next week but for anyone eager to book early, the link is here
