So much new season produce from the farm this week!
The Spring weather may be slowing growth generally but our experienced team of farmers Made, Arnold, Jairo and Fransisco have worked miracles to bring lots of crops to perfection.
Indoor crops ready for harvest this week include the following:
- Cima de Rape
- Tai Sai
- Tatsoi
- Turnips
- Radishes
- Spring Onions
- Coriander
From the fields we are delighted to be harvesting more of the delicious Calcots. A Catalan favourite – particularly popular in Barcelona – these “spring” onions grow from the body of the previous season’s large onions. Planted out when they begin to sprout, mounded up to blanch the stem, these onions are then charred on the grill and served with a tangy Romesco sauce made from wood-roast peppers, garlic and almonds. With a flavour somewhere between a spring onion and a leek, our Calcots are on sale in the shop or, even better, ready grilled in the restaurant!
From Thursday we will again have Cornish day boat fish from Newlyn and shellfish from Constantine. This week we will have Whole Plaice, Haddock Fillets, Scallops and large-clawed Cock Crabs.
The whole team look forward to greeting you at the farm over the coming days
