Last call for our monthly Supper Club – Weeds from the Yard – to be held this Friday evening. An intriguing menu with every course featuring weeds or those critters in the garden that eat the weeds. Hosted by our resident Mad Professor and my brother, Charles, we aim to show that much that grows readily in our gardens, allotments and hedgerows is not only edible, but delicious and, indeed, nutritious. Weather permitting, we shall start the evening with a brief walk round the garden to explore some of the edibles that many of us try to eradicate – we will then serve 5 courses highlighting some of the weeds that are in season right now. There are a few tickets still available from the website – book a ticket by clicking here
Exciting news this week about The Good Food Guide’s Best Local Restaurant Award where we have been nominated for the first time. Huge honour as this is, we don’t want to stop there! We would really like to be recognised as one of the best 100 local restaurants in the country. To have a chance, we need your help – the first phase of selection is public nominations. Those restaurants with the most nominations in each region are then subject to formal and anonymous judging. To reach the final phase, we need as many nominations as possible and would ask that you take a moment to click on the following image and submit a nomination – and if the pleasure of praising us is not its own reward, each nominator will be entered into a draw to win a £250 voucher to eat at a local restaurant.
So a long and, we hope, slightly more clement Bank Holiday weekend. We are open every day of the weekend including Monday serving croissants, toast and Bacon Baps from 10am each morning. Lunch will follow with more exceptional fish from Cornwall – Whole Roast Plaice, Sea Bass Ceviche and Hake with Beluga Lentils and Wild Garlic Salsa. There will also be lashings of Pork from last week’s Saddlebacks and delicious, tender Coq Au Vin from our own chickens.
