Lots of flowers and a new Worton Night!

Changeable spring weather this week – some rain, some wind but definitely some warm sunshine.  For the first time in 2022 we have had guests eating in the garden – lets hope this is the beginning of a long, warm spring and summer season!

The weather is certainly helping with the flowers – we have lots more Narcissi of course but also, this weekend, the first few bunches of Anemones, Tulips and Grape Hyacinth.  Not many as yet so do come early or call ahead and we’ll put a bunch aside for you.

I am very excited to announce the first of what we hope will be a long series of Worton Nights stretching through to the summer.  First up we are delighted to have secured Beans Boughton, MW to host a tutored wine tasting on Saturday 26th March.  The evening will comprise a delicious five course meal highlighting the best of our seasonal produce with wine pairings for each course.  Beans is selecting some really interesting, organic wines and will present two different wines with each course.  As well as having fun, a wonderful meal and tasting some fantastic wines, we will be gauging your views to help us select our new wine list and the wines which we will have available for off-sales in the shop from Easter.  Anyone who comes to the evening will be entitled to a 20% discount on purchases of the wines drunk.  Click here to book your ticket.Slim pickings again at Newlyn this week so no shellfish or fish for the shop though we do have Hake, Monkfish and Cuttlefish on the menu in the restaurant. The Cuttlefish will be served slow-braised in its own ink alongside some griddled polenta – one of our signature dishes, the cuttlefish is meltingly tender and deliciously flavoured.

We do hope to see you over the coming days
