One last hurrah for glorious summer weather this weekend as the temperatures soar.
Lots of Tomatoes, Peppers, Chillis and Aubergines are eventually ripening and the menu will reflect this with Iced Gazpacho, Piedmontese Peppers and Padrons joining our Nasu Dengaku and delicious vegan Mezzo plate which, for the first time this summer, comprises 100% homegrown produce!
Also a first for this summer, we will have Vitello Tonnato on the menu. This wonderful, if bizarre sounding, Tuscan “picnic” dish is perfect for a summer supper and will highlight the fantastic Longhorn beef from our new supplier at Cornbury House. The herd at Cornbury has been fed solely on pasture and herbal lays and is the most tender, flavourful beef we have eaten for years and this dish is the perfect introduction – gently braised topside, thinly sliced then slathered in a tuna “mayonnaise” – the richness offset with capers and a fresh cucumber salad.
Lots of ‘lighter’ seafood dishes courtesy of our friends, Flying Fish, in Cornwall. More of the unctuous Cuttlefish, Cock Crabs, Roast Plaice and Goan Fish Curry of course but also fresh Mussels and fabulous Crevettes a La Plancha.
On such a glorious weekend, where better to while away a few hours than in the shade of our verdant gardens eating delicious food washed down with a glass of sparkling Cremant de Bordeaux?
