Weekly Update – 16th July

Another fantastic seafood weekend coming up thanks to our friends at The Cornish Seafood Company. Lots of glistening fresh lemon sole – fresh online or wood-roasted in the restaurant. More of those delicious clams – Linguine Alle Vongole will definitely be on the menu as will fine Cornish Cock Crab.

In the garden, there’s something of a pause till the sunshine returns! We have lots growing and setting fruit but not much is properly ripe yet. A slight delay then on the full summer abundance of tomatoes, padron peppers, aubergines and beans. Visitors to the shop will be able to buy those few that do ripen by the weekend.

One fruit that is perfectly ripe and in abundance this week is the St Hubertus plum – delicious, yellow-fleshed, purple skinned and very early ripening. Sweet and sour at the same time so great to eat fresh but also good cooked -we will have a rustic plum galette on the dessert menu. Unfortunately, these may be our last St Hubertus for a few years as the the storms of a couple of weeks ago brought down the one tree we have.
