Supper Club – Hunters Moon

Date: 18 Oct 2024
Time: 19:00 - 23:00
Location: Worton Kitchen Garden
Supper Club | Worton Nights

Our new Supper club will highlight a different ingredient or product each month. The aim is to produce exciting, new dishes with our seasonal produce or to showcase the best of our local suppliers and their produce. Each meal will be a four course set menu and seating will be “communal” on refectory style tables.

A supper club to celebrate the Hunters Moon, the full moon which falls in October. A month after the Harvest Super Moon, the Hunters Moon. was held to be a time to celebrate Game, Fungus and Late-foraged Berries. Although we are holding our dinner the day after the actual full moon , we will be sticking to this tradition and making a banquet of whatever Game and foraged food we can source that week. The menu below is our best estimate of what will be available.

Far from a time of gloom, this would have been a period of joyful eating for many native peoples as game could be hunted across fields and clearing where crops had already been harvested. The more open landscape would allow game to be hunted and trapped more easily before the post Christmas closed period to allow stocks of all animals both farmed and wild to replenish.

The full menu for the evening is here:

Wild Rabbit Rillette with Pickled Grapes

Foraged Mushroom Soup

Roe Deer Wellington

Damson Pavlova
