The best fish in the county?

Fabulous fish again this week as the calmer weather has allowed the fishermen to get out and the markets have been really good.

So we have lightly pickled Mackerel with Potato Salad, beautiful chunks of Hake in our Goan Fish Curry and more of our signature Whole Roast Plaice served with home grown Ratte potatoes and Chicory from the glasshouse.  The Plaice, in particular, are in their prime – plump, tender and succulent.  Not, perhaps, the grandest of Flatfish, certainly not the most sought after or the most expensive but, at their best as they are at the moment, the most delicious.  We have a fresh load, landed this morning in Cornwall, arriving with us tomorrow – do come and sample them in the restaurant or buy a fish or two to take home.

For anyone looking for distraction over the next few weekends, we still have a slot or two for the Zymology workshop next Saturday morning, a few spare “easels” for the Sip and Paint evening on 22nd Feb and some tickets for the Mad Professor’s next outing at our Gastrophysics Supper Club on 29th November.  For the moment at least, the days are grey, the evenings long and we’re all surely in need of convivial good cheer – do come and try one of our events….
