Happy New Year from the team here at the farm – we are all excited to be welcoming you back after our mid-winter break.
It may be relentlessly grey outside but the fires are stoked, the Haggis is delivered, the Malts are sourced and our favourite Piper is in tune (or so we hope!). Our opening event of the year, as always, is a traditional Burns Night Supper – think Cock-a-Leekie, Haggis, Tatties and Neeps, and Cranachan. For many of you, I know, January is a month of abstemious self denial but we are close enough to the end, surely, for a little touch of celebration? If you feel tempted to join us in the warm glow of the greenhouse on Sunday evening, click here to see the full menu and to buy a ticket.
Even if you don’t fancy Haggis, we have lots of other delicious items on the main menu this weekend – the focus is on the bitter leaves – Puntarella and Endive, the sweet, charred flavour of Calcots and, of course, the delicious astringency of Forced Rhubarb. Each in their different ways perfect refreshers for jaded winter palates and all fresh in the shop and on the menu this weekend.
Finally, as if to celebrate our re-opening, Cleopatra, our favourite Middlewhite Sow, delivered 12 healthy piglets this morning … do pop in to say hello to our newest mother and her lively and definitely very squeaky new brood!
