As we’ve passed the Equinox and we’re racing towards the dark days, what better time to remember the summer that never quite happened and the joy brought by this summer’s artist in residence, Stacey Gledhill.
Some of her delightful canvasses illustrating the play of light on plants and gardens already decorate the walls of the Old Shop – many others will be on display at Cornucopia her exhibition of works inspired by Worton to be held at the farm in late November. The exhibition will feature five new large paintings made this summer here at the farm as well as a number of small works. The work is about abundance. A celebration of nature, gardens and tables, and what these things can mean: space, growth and connection.
We hope that many of you will take the opportunity to visit the farm to see (and perhaps buy!) the works – the Exhibition will run from 21st November to 1st December with an Open Evening on Thursday 22nd November.
Ahead of this, Stacey will be leading a 2 day oil painting workshop on Oct 3rd and 4th. This will be a chance for all aspiring artists to spend time with a small group of fellow enthusiasts and to do a deep dive with Stacey on the materials, techniques and set-up required to produce a successful painting. The aim is that by the end of the second day, everyone will have created their own beautiful artwork to take home. Tickets for this one-off opportunity are available here.
There are also several more of the hugely successful Sip and Paint evenings in the diary. These relaxed evenings allow anyone to try their hand at still life oil painting in the warm and friendly atmosphere of our Glasshouse. The next two evenings are on 25th October and 22nd November – tickets available here
We are, of course, open as usual over the next week and as the menu changes to more hearty, warming fare, we welcome back some old favourites like Cream of Celery Soup, Confit Pumpkin, Marrow and Tomato Massala and, on the dessert side, Tarte Tatin.
For anyone as yet undecided, we do have a few tickets still left for this Friday’s Supper Club – Michaelmas Goose. If you would like to join us, click here.
Finally, for those, like me, who look out for them just a brief note to let you know that after a couple of months off, our ducks have suddenly started laying again. As we’re not entirely sure what’s dictating this rhythm, you should come soon to buy some!
We look forward to welcoming you to our restaurant over the coming days.
