Back to a bit of warmth and sunshine this weekend….we hope! To celebrate we thought we’d indulge in some glorious native seafood from our friends in Cornwall.
As well as the succulent, plump scallops that many of you have enjoyed over the last month, we are delighted to have the first native oysters of the season. Round, flat, salty and savoury, these are a rare treat – no need for any fancy treatment, just shucked and served on ice with lemon and some shallot vinegar. Second only to the legendary Belon oysters from southern Brittany, a plate of these would make a perfect light lunch, especially if you were to wash them down with a glass or two of our delicious white wines!
As ever, you can choose between the Sandler Riesling or the Roussanne No 35 La Marouette – both would work well with the oysters – the Sandler drier, the Roussanne nor voluptuous! But as a special treat we will also be serving our “Cava” style sparkler from Penedes, Petit Albet, by the glass. Crisp, fizzy with hints of apple and melon, this could be a perfect accompaniment to these fine oysters!
