The most delicious of tarts … the Tatin returns!

So lots of press attention over the last couple of weeks with a very favourable mention in The Times on Saturday 23rd – click here to read the story.

Then the Estate, if not our farm, was all over the world press on Monday evening following the lightning strike at the anaerobic digestion facility. For all those who saw the story and were concerned, just to let you know that there were no issues for our people or our animals.

Turning to this weekend and the beautiful warm weather, we have decided to delay switching to a more autumnal menu and will refresh some of your favourite dishes from the summer. So a return for our Vitello Tonnato, more Cuore Del Vesuvio tomatoes served with fresh Labneh and Lovage and, for one last time, some sweet, fresh Prawns served “a la plancha”.

Seafood is arriving fresh tomorrow morning and will include fantastic Prawns, Cock Crabs, Cornish Cod and Plaice. We will be receiving plenty for both the restaurant and the shop so do come and try some.

It was so delicious last weekend, that we are continuing with our Michaelmas Goose this Sunday. It will be available as individual servings on the day but why not order in advance and have a perfectly cooked traditional Goose with Apple Sauce, Roast Potatoes, Red Cabbage and Potato and Sage Stuffing served as a whole bird for you to carve yourself at the table? A sumptuous, seasonal treat that may well only be available at Worton.

On the dessert side, the fruits are being harvested and the year won’t wait so lots of Damsons and Raspberries before their season ends and the beginning of the Tarte Tatin season. We will have these on the menu right through to Christmas as the apple harvest has been reasonably good but why not come in over the weekend to remind yourself of how good this classic tart can taste?

The whole team look forward to welcoming you for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
