A hint of summer sun this weekend and not before time! We have just opened the booking system for next Monday, the Bank Holiday, and we hope you will be able to join us at our tables in the garden or the greenhouse.
Lots of delicious food on the menu with more Ascott Garden Goose Egg Shakshuka, Baked Endive with Pancetta and Cheese, the last Leg from our Spring pigs slowly roasted for 24 hours with fennel and more of the Hampton Gay Longhorn beef – this time cooked with wine and mushrooms as Boeuf Bourguignon.
The team are currently preparing Asparagus beds so that in a couple of years we hope to have our own supplies but in the meantime we have plentiful organic Asparagus from the Fens for sale in the shop and the restaurant.
Definitely fresh from our own gardens, we have more Calcots for the grill. There will also be Brokali, Cime de Rapa, fantastic, super-size Spring Cabbages, Coriander, Parsley and, if we get a couple of days sunshine, the first of our greenhouse strawberries.
A slight pause on outdoor flowers until the sun really does shine again but we do have lots of heavenly-scented sweet peas from the Glasshouse.
Seafood will be arriving from Cornwall on Thursday so should be available in the shop and restaurant from lunchtime. More bad weather in the Channel over the last week has disrupted supplies but we have Lemon Sole, Squid, Skate Wings and Oysters. If the boats return today with Crab or Lobster we should have some for the restaurant again this week.
