The forecast may not be for balmy weather – it is after all an English Bank Holiday! – but we are open all weekend for breakfast and lunch Friday to Monday and for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. Where better to spend a few hours as the weather warms up and our gardens are bursting into flower?
Of course, we have several long weekends this May and we will be open through all of them – do book a table online by clicking here. Whether it’s for this Mayday weekend, for next weekend’s Coronation holiday or for the Whitsun weekend at the end of May, we hope you will be able to join us to eat our delicious farm-to-table food and to look around our Spring gardens.
As we eventually come towards the end of our last batch of Middlewhite Pigs, we have some new treats this week. Joining the 18 Hour Roast Pork (Sunday Only) on the menu, we have our own Smoked Bacon Chops with Lentils, Crispy Crackling with a Rhubarb Relish, Brawn with Piccalilli, more Tuscan Fennel Sausages and Szechuan Spiced Sticky Ribs. We are really enjoying all the meat of our Middlewhites from their noses in the Brawn right to their tails in the Crackling!!
On the menu and in the shop we also have two delicious seasonal treats – Organic Asparagus from Bedlam Farms in Suffolk and low intervention Alphonso Mangos from India. In both cases, these are seasonal delights lasting only a few weeks but so delicious that we break our locavore rules! By next year, our own Asparagus beds should be producing all the spears we need but we will still need to import the world’s best mango!
Finally, we are delighted to announce the return of Worton Nights – a series of talks and concerts for week-end evenings. Although we only have one date confirmed so far, we hope to be able to announce several new events within the next week or two. For now, we are launching with the ever splendid Oxley-Meier Project. Pete and Nicolas are two of the UK’s finest Jazz guitarists and we are excited that they have found time during their UK tour to fit in an evening at the farm. Technically we may be a warm-up event before they play Ronnie Scott’s the following week but we’re happy to be in that company! Always an enlivening concert, Pete and Nicolas will be playing two sets around a seasonal dinner at the farm on Saturday 20th May. Tickets can be bought on Eventbrite by clicking the link below.
The whole team look forward to greeting you again over the Bank Holiday weekend.
