Bank Holiday Monday – Open for the First Time!

This year’s wondrous plum harvest reaches its peak with the ripening of the Quetsche plums. The most perfect dual purpose plum – delicious and scented when fresh and fully ripe, they are even more sublime when cooked. Known to the Romans, the Quetsche or Zwetschen in Germany is believed to have been brought to Europe by returning Crusaders! If you haven’t tasted them before, you really must. On sale in the shop, they are also the star of the Quetsche Plum Galette in the restaurant.

Despite the best efforts of Storm Francis, most of our sweetcorn are still standing! The harvest is abundant and the cobs are delicious. Do come and sample them grilled in their husks or as Pakora in the restaurant or bring a few home and try them whole on your Bank Holiday barbecue.

Speaking of which, we are very excited to be open throughout the long weekend – starting at 10 am tomorrow, we will be open for breakfast and lunch everyday including Bank Holiday Monday.

We hope everyone can come to see us at least once over the weekend!
