Eggs galore this week at the farm!
All our birds seem to be happy – all are in full feather, all are eating well and enjoying the spring sunshine, all are laying furiously. So many eggs from the Chickens, the Ducks, the Guineas and the Geese. So eggs across the menu, in the shop and of course on the Easter Egg Hunts!
Firstly Good Friday when we will hold our first Easter Egg Hunts. Our favourite children’s entertainer Elaine is visiting and will host two hunts for our younger guests – lots of fun activities – hunting for the Easter Eggs, collecting fresh eggs from the hen house, meeting some of our new chicks and lots more. Click here to book a slot.
Whilst the hunts are on, our adult guests can enjoy cooked eggs as we serve brunch for the first time! A selection of egg and bacon dishes will be on offer each morning of this Bank Holiday weekend. Choose from Bacon Baps, Poached or Scrambled Eggs on Sourdough Toast, Eggs Royale or Benedict, Goose Egg Shakshuka or a Full Worton Breakfast. All dishes will be available between 10 and 12 each day.
On Saturday, to celebrate re-opening for evening service, we present a special night of guitar music by one of the most enduring duos in the UK: the Oxley-Meier Guitar Project (these guys have played literally hundreds of gigs together all over the UK and Europe!). They have performed with major artists from Nigel Kennedy to Jeff Beck….and you can hear them in the intimate setting of our conservatory! These two bring a bunch of different guitars, so expect a broad palette of ‘soundscapes from Turkey to Brazil’, world-music to jazz! As the Observer wrote of them: “When it comes to empathy, this duet of guitar virtuosi comes close to perfection” Tickets are almost sold out but there are a couple still available – click here.
For Easter Sunday we will be firing up our new barbecue pit to roast a whole Dartmoor Greyface Hogget. Served with Dauphinoise potatoes, braised endives and fresh mint sauce, Roasted overnight, the Hogget should be succulent and tasty and a perfect centrepiece for a Sunday lunch.
Finally, we will also be open on Bank Holiday Monday from 10am to 4pm. Come for a full family meal or, perhaps, for a relaxing decompress after the family have left!
The whole team look forward to welcoming you to the farm over the coming days and to one or more of these exciting events.
