There are still a couple of seats available for the last Supper Club of 2024. Tomorrow’s meal will be hosted by our resident Mad Professor, Charles Spence, Head of Oxford’s Cross Modal Institute and author of several books, including the award winning Gastrophysics – A New Science of Eating. Charles’s dinners are always entertaining – a mixture of words, multi-sensory experiences and, of course, delicious food…
Tomorrow’s menu has an “American” twang to fit with this Thanksgiving Weekend – think Pumpkin Soup, Confit Turkey, Apple Pie (well Tarte Tatin to be honest!) and lots more – every course will illustrate aspects of Charles’ talk and give you insights into how your senses actually work and the hacks that restaurateurs use to manipulate us all. A sometime collaborator with modernist chefs such as Heston Blumethal, Ferran Adria and Josef Yousuf, Charles’ stories will make you look at restaurant food in a completely different light!
I talked last week about the wonderful art exhibition “Cornucopia” made up of works undertaken at the farm last summer by our Artist in Residence, Stacey Gledhill. I am delighted to confirm that Stacey’s exhibition will be extended and you will now have a chance to see her paintings on our walls this weekend and next.
Additionally, after another sold out Sip and Paint evening last Friday when 25 novices took a first, pleasurable step on the path to learning to paint in oils, Stacey has agreed to continue this monthly workshop throughout 2025. The first evening is on January 17th immediately after our mid-winter sabbatical with the Sip and Paint evenings then following on the first Friday of each month. Should you be impatient to secure an easel, whether for yourself or as a gift, the bookings for the first quarter are now open on the website – click here.
Finally, for anyone wanting to make their own unique Christmas Wreath, we have a workshop scheduled for Saturday 14th December. Remaining tickets are available by clicking here
