Online Shop Launch – Covid 19 Update

In light of the evolving pandemic, the team here at Worton are working hard to ensure, as long as possible, that we can provide you with fresh, organic and nutritious produce. Now, more than ever, we all need to eat healthy fresh foods to improve our resilience and strengthen our immune system.
We have spent this week in discussions with our suppliers to ensure that we are able to keep the shop stocked as fully as possible over the next few months. Of course, at this time of year we are very dependent on fruit and vegetable supplies from overseas and the rest of the UK to compliment what we ourselves grow here. We are therefore vulnerable to changes in the supply chain as borders across the world are closed.

For the moment, however, supplies are strong and we are working with our friends at Choice Organics, Duchy Home Farm and The Cornish Shellfish Company to ensure the farm shop is fully stocked this weekend.

The shop itself will be open as usual on Friday-Sunday and you will be able to come in and do your shopping in the normal way.

For those who are already practising greater social distancing, we will also ensure that contactless shopping is possible. One of the team will be on hand to bring a product/price list to the carpark so that you can place an order from your own car – we will then pack your shopping, take your card payment remotely and, finally, deliver to your car boot.

For those already self-isolating, we are also launching an online shop (available here) to allow you to purchase mixed vegetable or grocery boxes or indeed individual items for collection or delivery. Again, these transactions will be conducted contactlessly for the safety of yourselves and our team. The mixed boxes are already available online and as we secure delivery of individual items, we will list these for sale as well. Our aim is to have a full list available by close of play each Wednesday for delivery/collection Thursday to Sunday and a new list available by midday Friday for delivery/collection on Monday.

We will endeavour to maintain a steady supply of our normal goods at reasonable prices. Matters are, however, in many ways out of our hands and we may have to adjust what we sell and the prices depending on market fluctuations. If the current situation carries on into early summer, we will of course look forward to supplying mostly our own home-grown produce.

Additionally, we will also be happy to supply bread, croissants, whole cakes and quiches either in person (with 24hours notice) or via the online shop.

For those feeling the need to escape the outside world, our restaurant will be open as usual this weekend serving a full menu that will be published on Instagram on Thursday evening. Our tables are well spaced and we have increased hygiene practises and sanitising to meet government recommendations. The wellbeing of our customers and the team are paramount.

Looking further ahead, we hope to able to supply prepared foods and dishes from the restaurant for collection/delivery by next week – more to follow on this later.
