Voluptuous, Lavish and Stunning Dinner Plate Dahlias …

Chilly starts and mists swirling round the fields by the river – perfect Autumn mornings at the farm.

This cooler sunny weather has created the ideal conditions for a fabulous display of Dahlias in the cutting garden.  A real mixture of varieties and colours all clamouring for attention beyond the windows as you eat in the Glasshouse.  A glorious backdrop in this clear Autumnal light even as we have to start heating the glasshouse for the first time since March.  Pompons, Waterlillies, Cactus, Peony and, of course, the preposterous Dinner Plate Dahlias in all their lurid colours will keep flowering even as the days shorten until the first frosts.  Do visit before the display stops…

Lots more pork on the menu this week.  In addition to more fresh Tuscan Fennel Sausages we will be serving Rillettes with Pickled Fennel, Scratchings with Pickled Mirabelles, Spicy Szechuan Ribs, Shoulder Vindaloo and, of course, our signature 18-hour Roast Shoulder with Apple Sauce on Sunday.

Last preparations are underway for the Michaelmas Goose Supper Club – a celebration of the grass fed, “green” goose of autumn and our traditional celebration of the change of season. For the full menu and the last few tickets – click here.
