Gastrophysics Returns to the farm this Saturday

Another Bank Holiday weekend and we are ready for it: a fascinating evening of discussion, delicious food and strange ideas on Saturday when Professor Charles Spence, Head of the Crossmodal Research Laboratory in Oxford presents another Gastrophysics event. Having worked with many of the world’s most innovative chefs, including Heston Blumenthal and Ferran Adria, Charles will talk between courses of a dinner designed to illustrate some of the tricks of the trade and some of the unexpected ways in which our senses work and interact with each other. Always an entertaining evening, there may be the odd “bush-tucker” trial for the brave this time as Charles is returning from Easter Holidays in the Columbian Cloud Forrest – fat-bottomed ants anyone? As well as Saturday evening, we will be open throughout the bank holiday weekend and will be serving breakfast and lunch through to Monday 4pm.

In addition to lots of fresh picked greens from the garden – we have an abundance of oriental greens at present including Pak Choi, Tatsoi, Komatsuna, Mibuma, Thai Sai – we also have the last cuts of the delicious Oxford Down lamb which we will be serving as Spicy Szechuan Ribs.

New this week we are delighted to have taken delivery of another side of Hampton Gay Longhorn Beef – this will be served as Rare Rump slices with Agresto sauce, Steak Tartare with Sautéed Potatoes and, on Sunday, as Roast beef with trimmings.
We look forward to welcoming you to the farm again this week..
