New Season Artichoke

Online Shop Open – 13th May

New Season Artichokes – the first from our gardens.

Welcome to our weekly email – all the weekend’s new stock has been updated online and you are now able to order all your favourites and a few new additions.

On the seafood side, we once again have Cornish Mussels and, new this week, delicious, fresh Hake fillets.  Cut at c500g, these hake fillets are very flexible – you could oven-roast, pan fry or grill.  Indeed any recipe you can make with cod or haddock fillets you can also use Hake.  A favourite in the restaurant is a traditional Spanish dish, Merluza a la Gallega.  First soften chopped onions and garlic, then add tomatoes and cook gently for 10-15 minutes till you have a sauce.  Season with salt, pepper and pimenton to taste.  Slice waxy potatoes (our winter Alouettes or Jersey Royals would both work here) add to the pan, cover and cook for 10 minutes till just soft.  Now spread in a baking dish, put the well seasoned fillet(s) on top, cover with foil and place in a medium-hot oven (180c fan).  Depending on the thickness, the filets should be cooked in less than 10 mins.  Sprinkle with plenty of chopped parsley and serve.  Simple, delicious and healthy!  As a new option this week, we have put together a box with all the ingredients to make this recipe – Click Here

From our gardens and greenhouses, we have lots of seasonal treats including:

  • Baby Artichokes
  • Fresh Herbs – Parsley, Coriander and Mint
  • Spring Greens
  • Spring Onions

Many of you have already responded to our questionnaire. Some really interesting feedback – we are working on making many off the changes suggested. We are still very keen to hear you thoughts so the questionnaire remains live. Anyone who hasn’t respond yet or indeed anyone who wants to add more comments, please let us know what you think of what we have done so far, whether it’s working well, what could be improved. We’re also keen to hear your suggestions for what else we could be selling though the online shop?

The farm will be open as usual on Friday and Saturday so you are welcome to come to the shop and buy your fruit, vegetables and bread in the normal way. For those who can make it, there will be a slightly broader range of produce available including our delicious salads, some soft fruit and berries.  We also have a new selection of chocolate from Plantation Chocolate in Jericho.

Of course we all have to adhere to strict social distancing rules:

  • Everyone will need to sanitize their hands before coming into the shop
  • Only one customer in the shop at any time
  • The queue (if we’re busy) will be spaced at 2m intervals (we’ll set out chairs to make this more comfortable!)
  • No cash payments will be accepted – only cards

We will be offering Click and Collect or Delivery options only on Sunday. We anticipate being fairly low on stock again by the end of Saturday so to avoid disappointment, we will be re-publishing a detailed stock list on Saturday evening to allow you to place online orders whether for morning Click and Collect or afternoon delivery.
