We are delighted to let you know that the restaurant will be opening at 10am this Saturday morning for the usual coffee, teas and croissants followed by a delicious lunch of seasonal vegetables, wonderful seafood and local, organic meat.
There do of course have to be changes to accommodate the Government’s new Covid requirements. We have carried out a risk assessment and made changes to the layout of the tables and facilities to try to ensure that everyone remains safe when they visit us.
The key changes are new hand-washing facilities in the loo and hand-washing and sanitising stations in both the Old Cafe and the Glasshouse. Tables will, of course, need to be more spread out than before and the number of diners reduced. We will also be insisting on timed sittings so that the team have time and capacity to clean tables, chairs and any other equipment between bookings. As mentioned last week, we will be operating a booking system to ensure there is no crowding or queueing and so that we can keep contact details for the head of each table in case required for Track and Trace.
We hope to have a full on-line booking system on the website before the weekend – in the meantime, and as a big thank you for your loyalty over the last few months, we are now accepting email booking requests for tables for this Saturday and Sunday. If you would like to join us, and we very much hope that many of you do, just email letting us know the number of guests and your preferred time. We will get back to you within 24hrs to confirm your booking.
Lots of delicious fruit and vegetables this week as we head into July. The very first of what promises to be a bumper harvest of raspberries and some pretty delicious blackcurrants – both from our own gardens. From Ascott Gardens, we hope to have more berries and currants depending on what’s ripened over the last week.
From The Cornish Shellfish Company we are anticipating a Friday morning delivery of just-gathered Wild Mussels, Lobsters, Crabs, Skate Wings and Hake. All deliciously fresh as usual – all the seafood is available to buy on-line and some of it will definitely be on the menu in the restaurant!
