So many Tomatoes reaching their peak this week …

So very many tomatoes this week ..  Lots of heritage varieties all reaching their peak in this glorious, dry and seemingly endless warm weather.  We have Mucho Miel, Stupice, Amish Paste, Dr Carolyn Pink, Costoluto Genovese, Green Zebra, Blue Beauty and many, many more. Do come along to try some of these unusual varieties – all are available to taste in the shop.  We also have a Tomato and Lovage salad on the menu in the restaurant along with Iced Gazpacho which combines tomatoes with our own cucumber, peppers, onion, garlic, chilli and sourdough.  Of course, tomatoes are also a key part of the Brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday mornings being served in the Shakshuka and the Huevos Rancheros

More fantastic seafood up from Cornwall again this week: Whole Roast Plaice, Goan Monkfish Curry, Cornish Sardines with Aioli and stunning Cornish Cock Crabs served with Sorrel Mayonnaise, Borodinsky Toast and our Mixed Green Salad.  New this week, we also have one of my favourites, Spoots or Razor Clams as the Southerners call them!  Lightly braised in wine and served with Parsley Bread Crumbs, these are a delicious and rarely available treat.

Looking further forward, a final call for anyone wanting to join the Dahlia Workshop hosted by our friend, Arthur Parkinson on 28th August – we are down to the last few tickets. and a first call for our Christmas Day and New Year Feasts which are now live on the website.
