Valentine’s Weekend – a Time for Flowers!

It’s Valentine’s Weekend already! The dawn chorus has started, the blackbirds and robins are claiming their territories and our thousands of bulbs are above the ground. The very first of our pots are in flower – the tiny Julia Jane Narcissi are a joyful decoration and a reminder that Spring is not far away!

We have lots of bulbs for sale this weekend – Hyacinths, Dwarf Iris, Miniature Tulips and Crocus in full bud. All are presented in beautiful hand thrown, frost proof terracotta pots from Willow Pottery near Bath. Ideal presents which will continue to grow over the next few weeks before bursting into joyous Spring colour.
Continuing the Valentine theme, we have fabulous Lemon Sole this Weekend – large enough for two to share, we will be serving them oven roast with buttered Ratte potatoes. Also helping your amatory aspirations (perhaps!), we have plump Rock Oysters up from Cornwall as well as Skate Wings and Scallops.

Some of our eagle-eyed guests noticed that two of last summer’s Saddlebacks went last Thursday. We have been very busy in the kitchen over the past few days salting Hams, Bacon and Hocks, curing Rillette and making more of our signature Sausages. This weekend we will have 24hr Fennel Roast Shoulder, Scratchings and Sausages on the menu in the restaurant. We will also have sausages in the shop and online – there are two varieties available Tuscan Fennel or Spicy Chorizo.

We do hope to see you over the coming days
