Lots going on at the farm over the next week or two.
We start with some world-class guitar strumming – they may use a different word! A concert in the glasshouse on Saturday evening with Pete Oxley and Nick Meier. Their traditional Easter Saturday concert is much looked forward to and presents a great opportunity to hear some fantastic and broad ranging Jazz guitar whilst supping a glass and eating some delicious food. The few remaining tickets are available here.
Next Thursday is the launch of our new joint venture with Oxford gallerist Hannah Payne. Hannah will be curating several exhibitions at the farm over the next few months and has lined up some exceptional artists starting with Aliki Braine – one of her stunning paintings is at the top of this mail. Born in Paris and an alumni of The Ruskin, The Slade and The Courtauld Institutes, Aliki has recently held solo exhibitions in London, Birmingham, Vienna, Madrid and Paris and we are really excited to be hosting this show at Worton.
The show will run from 24th April to 31st July and we hope that many of you will get the chance to visit and experience, or indeed, purchase these wonderful works! For anyone wanting to have a leisurely look at the works and have a chat with the artist, we are holding a private viewing next Thursday evening from 6-8pm. Please do feel free to pop along for a glass of fizz, a nibble and a chat …
In the restaurant this week, we have more Spring fare with home-grown radishes, calcots and lots of fish. On Sunday we have Cotswold Lion Hogget slowly smoked on the barbecue as our “roast”. The Hogget, from friend of the farm Will Spray, has been hanging in our walk-in for a coupe of weeks and should be perfect by Sunday. We will be serving the meat with fresh mint sauce, dauphinoise potatoes and day fresh greens from the glasshouse. What better way to celebrate Easter Sunday?
