The Cotswolds’ inventive new boutique hotel drawing an arty crowd

Just off the A40, behind a farm complex, this secret oasis of exotic kitchen gardening and forage-friendly rewilding was set up by the City boy turned artisanal bread baker Simon Spence. With a menu that uses local ingredients but looks far outward for inspiration, diners can choose from Worton mezze with flatbread and crudités, nasu dengaku (miso-glazed aubergine) and Goan fish curry with rice. Eat outside or in the sun-dappled glasshouse. And don’t forget to buy a loaf of Spence’s ambrosial sourdough from the farm shop on the way out.
